Hebou is committed to providing its staff, clients, partners, subcontractors, suppliers and visitors with a healthy and safe environment.

Our principal goal is to improve health and safety, and to prevent injuries and illness occurring on all our job sites and within our premises at 6 Mile.

Hebou strives to fully integrate health and safety into all aspects of our construction and operations through a process of risk management.  We will achieve this by:

  • Systematically managing workplace risks in accordance with PNG legislation and other requirements

  • reducing incidents and near-misses, with the ultimate objective of preventing workplace illness and injury

Our Safety Management System requires:

  • Improved safety awareness through the consistent wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and daily pre-start meetings on all our sites

  • The appointment of a Hebou Safety Manager, Assistant Safety Manager, site-specific safety managers, and the establishment of a Hebou Health & Safety Committee

  • Site-specific Safety Risk Assessments that:

    • identify hazards and assess them in terms of probability and impact

    • evaluate risks and apply control measures to reduce them

    • allocate responsibilities for managing these risks on the site

    • review and revise control measures to ensure effectiveness

  • Safe Work Method Statements for all high-risk work

  • Site-specific safety induction training for all staff & visitors

  • Regular audits on our job sites and our premises

  • Gradual convergence with the requirements of the AS/NZ 45001 Occupational Health and Safety standard
