Our Health & Safety Policies
Hebou is committed to providing its staff, clients, partners, subcontractors, suppliers and visitors with a healthy and safe environment.
Our principal goal is to improve health and safety, and to prevent injuries and illness occurring on all our job sites and within our premises at 6 Mile.
Hebou strives to fully integrate health and safety into all aspects of our construction and operations through a process of risk management. We will achieve this by:
Systematically managing workplace risks in accordance with PNG legislation and other requirements
reducing incidents and near-misses, with the ultimate objective of preventing workplace illness and injury
Our Safety Management System requires:
Improved safety awareness through the consistent wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and daily pre-start meetings on all our sites
The appointment of a Hebou Safety Manager, Assistant Safety Manager, site-specific safety managers, and the establishment of a Hebou Health & Safety Committee
Site-specific Safety Risk Assessments that:
identify hazards and assess them in terms of probability and impact
evaluate risks and apply control measures to reduce them
allocate responsibilities for managing these risks on the site
review and revise control measures to ensure effectiveness
Safe Work Method Statements for all high-risk work
Site-specific safety induction training for all staff & visitors
Regular audits on our job sites and our premises
Gradual convergence with the requirements of the AS/NZ 45001 Occupational Health and Safety standard
